Why is it important, that I journal my thoughts and feelings?
I believe it becomes an honest conversation with myself, that I may properly understand what I've come to know and learn that day.
With my thoughts on paper, they won't continue to flutter away into the haze of stimulation fleeting through my mind.
I get to read them. Consult them. And finally, I have the chance to debate the distortions that come forth.
I want to know the absolute truth about myself. To see who I am without this blanket of doubt cast above my soul.
I want to be able to trust myself. To be confident in my choices. But above all else...
I want to love myself.
This journal is one step towards that goal.
One mantra has followed me throughout most of my life:
"I want to give others the happiness I don't deserve. The joy I'll never have."
I don't want that mindset to be true anymore. I want to smile alongside the people I stand with.
